Acoustics is the sound within a certain space. For example, if you were in a church and you made any sound, that sound would then reflect off the solid walls, the larger the area the wider the echo delay would be. On the other if you were to film in a recording studio the sound would be absorbed by the walls, very little echo would be heard. When in a room there are two sounds from someone’s vocals, you have the source audio from the initial sound, then you have the follow up from the reflections off of the walls, this sound can be heard in a recording studio but it would not be noticeable almost at all.
Outdoor sound cannot fully be controlled, there will be unwanted background noise such as birds, traffic and wind interference. Outside the acoustics cannot be controlled due to no walls and surroundings to absorb or reflect the sound. Indoors the acoustics can be controlled due to acoustic foam to absorb the audio waves, and thin walls for very little reflection. However, it depends where you film, if you were to film in a church the area is spread on a larger scale, the walls are also thick which will cause the audio to turn out wet, wet is the audio format when it’s been affected acoustics.
